Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act provides a right of access to information held by public bodies regardless of age – and establishes the office of Scottish Information Commissioner who has the necessary power to enforce the Act and regulate compliance.

Highlands and Islands Partnership Programme is committed to complying with the Act within the deadlines and has already begun preparing for its implementation. As part of these preparations, HIPP is keen to find out more about what information people would be most interested in accessing. This will help us ensure our preparations focus on public interest in the information we hold.

Information on the Programme and its related activities is presented on this site under the publication of Committee papers. In addition, several reports which may be of interest are included under the HIPP Publication Scheme (currently being prepared).

Information which you may wish to access may therefore be already available and you are encouraged to utilize the website prior to submitting a Freedom of Information request.

HIPP`s Publication Scheme is now available from the Downloads (Additional Guidance) section of this website. The purpose of this Scheme is to ensure that a significant amount of information is available without the need for a specific request.  It was prepared by a group of staff representatives working with staff from other Programme Management Executives across Scotland and the Scottish Executive.

To date (November 2006) no FOI requets have been made to the PME.
