Welcome to the Highlands and Islands Partnership Programme website.
Over the last few months the website has been redeveloped to improve its user-friendliness and breadth of interest. It is now even more informative and provides better linkages to other documentation you may find useful. In addition, as a result of the introduction of the Freedom of Information legislation, the site will be used to detail responses to any enquiries received.
As we enter the final two years of the current Special Transitional Programme, the financial support available to help the development of eligible projects will reduce. It is anticipated that monies will be transferred between the Measures of the Programme to reflect demand and to ensure maximum take-up. The website, in keeping partners up-to-date on such changes will provide a useful resource for those planning to undertake eligible activity.
For those interested in learning about the Highlands and Islands, the site confirms the relative success of the Partnership model where agencies have worked together to ensure an immensely successful investment programme which has delivered long-term improvements to communities across the region.
The Special Transitional Programme, developed by partners in association with the Scottish Executive within a framework of equal opportunities and sustainable development as required by the Commission, has brought over £200million to support investments in excess of £600million over six years. Its priorities seek to support a vision for the Highlands and Islands of prosperous, inclusive and self sustaining communities where unique cultures, traditions and environments are enhanced and the region makes a distinctive contribution to Scotland, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
