Strategic Delivery Bodies
The Scottish Government has appointed two Strategic Delivery Bodies (SDB) within the Highlands and Islands to deliver elements of both the ERDF and ESF Programmes.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise will deliver business support under ERDF Priority 1. The HIE SDB applications cover revenue funding to support business development (including social enterprise development, energy audits, financial support to businesses of scale, commercialisation projects) and support towards capital investment in new property across the region. Funding of HIE SDB activities is expected to amount to 70% of the available funds under Priority 1 (approximately €33.2million).
The UHI Millennium Institute has been awarded SDB status to deliver activities under both ERDF and ESF. Under Priority 2, UHI will focus on developing the research capacity of the region under ERDF Priority 2 supporting both research projects and capital infrastructure investments. Funding of UHI SDB activities is expected to amount to 50% of the available funds under Priority 2 (approximately €20.7m). UHI has been awarded further funding under ESF Priority 3 to support curriculum development in key areas such as life sciences and the environment and renewable energy fields. Funding of UHI SDB activities under Priority 3 of the ESF Programme is expected to amount to 50% of the available funds (€7.6m)
Both SDBs have initially been awarded grants for Phase 1 proposals covering the operational period of 1st August 2007 to 31 December 2010.
